The Facilities Management Department at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) requires the supply and installation of a new 50 HP oil free air compressor and dryer in the Science Research Building at 1265 Military Trail, Toronto, ON. The scope of work includes receiving the air compressor on site and transporting it to the mechanical room, disconnecting and reconnecting sections of exhaust ducting if necessary, placing the equipment on 4-inch thick concrete pads, installing all new piping as required using stainless steel (welded where possible), connecting drains from the equipment to a nearby drain line, installing exhaust ducting from the new air compressor to the existing fan, and installing two motorized dampers with an end switch to ensure the compressor only starts once ducting is routed correctly. Allowance must be made for one after-hours shutdown to connect new compressor lines if required. A TSSA new install application and drawing must be submitted and approved prior to starting the project, and final testing and certification must be provided. Siemens Canada must be included for configuring the controls to the Building Automation System (BAS). The existing feed to the current 100 HP compressor in the mechanical room is to be reused, with disconnection of the existing feed and installation of a new junction box in the ceiling to accommodate a splice into the existing feed. Approximately 150 feet of Electric Metallic Tubing (EMT) and #3 copper conductors must be run from the junction box to the new compressor location. A new local disconnect at the compressor location must be supplied and installed. Wiring for the compressor transformer (supplied with the compressor) is required. New conduit and wire must be run from the local 120/208V panel to the new dryer location (208V 15A 1 phase), with supply of breaker for the above. A local toggle disconnect must be supplied and installed at the dryer location. All electrical work must be Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) approved and certification is required.
