4.05 mi of shoulder rehabilitation including widening, hot mix asphalt paving, aggregate shoulder, and permanent pavement markings on Westwood Avenue from Joseph Street northerly to the Kingsford city limit and Pine Mountain Road from the Kingsford city limit northerly to US-2, Dickinson County. This is a Local Agency project. Required DBE Participation: 0.00% Required SBP Participation: 0.00% Net classification required for this project is 1037 Cb or 1037 Ea In addition to the above minimum prequalification requirement for prime contractors this project includes a subclassification of Ca. If the prime contractor is not prequalified in this subclassification it must use a prequalified subcontractor. This subcontractor must be designated prior to award of the contract to the confirmed low bidder. MI DOT - 2605 006 - Shoulder Rehabilitation Including Widening, Hot Mix Asphalt Paving, Aggregate Shoulder, and Permanent Pavement Markings on Westwood Avenue Completion Date: 10/1/2026 DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK The work will consist of saw cutting and removing the existing narrow paved shoulders from the existing widened shoulder bicycle paths in the city of Kingsford (89+50 on LT, 88+50 on RT) to the P.O.E, then removing the existing materials (trenching) to 8 inches deep to accommodate the new aggregate base and widened paved shoulders, installing 6 inches 22A aggregate base, and paving the new 2 inch thick 5 ft wide asphalt shoulders. After the shoulder paving is completed, 23A aggregate shoulders (paid as Shld, Cl II) shall be installed. Since this project is a widening of the asphalt surface, most aggregate driveways can be blended with the 2 foot aggregate shoulders. Aggregate approaches will not be paid separately. If additional approach aggregate material is needed, it will be included in the shouldering item and paid as Shld, CL II. Lastly the permanent pavement marking shall be installed. LOCATION On Westwood Avenue in the City of Kingsford from the widened bike path shoulders near Joseph St (P.O.B. = 88+50) northerly to the Kingsford City Limits (station 112+33) and also Pine Mountain Road (County Portion) from the Kingsford City Limits (station 112+33) continuing northerly to the concrete curbs at US-2 / US 141 intersection (P.O.E. =302+80). This is in sections 35, 26, 23, 24, and 13 of T40N, R31W, Breitung Township, Dickinson County, Michigan.
