Renovation of a bridge / tunnel in Anamosa, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a bridge / tunnel.

The State of Iowa Department of Administrative Services (DAS) is seeking professional design services to make repairs to the Stone Utility Tunnel Walls located under the Sally Port Entrance and in front of Living Unit B at Anamosa State Penitentiary. Question Deadline 06/15/2026 at 2:00 PM CT Questions, requests for clarification, and suggested changes from Respondents due to Construction Procurement. Construction Manager McGough Construction has been engaged for this Project to serve as advisor to DAS and to provide assistance in administrating the Contract for Design between DAS and the Designer according to separate contract between DAS and Construction Manager. DAS is currently seeking design services from qualified firms for a project consisting of repairs to the existing stone utility tunnel walls located under the main sallyport vehicle entrance. Existing conditions include void spaces and deteriorated wall joints within the structure, as well as deterioration of the concrete tunnel lid and paving above, which will require replacement. Additional repairs have been identified in front of Living Unit B, where three tunnel wall corner locations are showing significant deterioration and failure. The selected design team will be responsible for conducting a structural investigation and developing repair and replacement solutions for these areas.
