Site work and new construction of a municipal facility in Summerland, British Columbia. Completed plans call for site work for a municipal facility; and for the construction of a municipal facility.
Resulting from the ongoing work to meet regulatory requirements and advance the operational and environmental benefits of the District of Summerland's recycling program, including the removal of residential food scraps from the garbage collection for composting and sale, the District of Summerland is proceeding with an Organics Processing Facility that will include new receiving, composting, curing, screening, and stockpiling areas. This project involves the construction of a new organic processing facility with aeration system and a new leachate management pond, and the scope of work includes: Construction of asphalt surfaced areas in the proposed active composting footprints, Road regrading and finishing, Extension and connection of electrical lines, Supply and installation of blowers and associated piping, leachate collection piping and structures, leachate evaporator, and Construction of a leachate management pond.
