The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, Recreation Sites and Trails BC wishes to set up a Caribou Style Fence Removal and Roadside Brushing Contract to support the Okanagan District in maintaining our Recreation Sites. This Contract will take place at Idleback Lake Recreation Site located 45 minutes from Penticton, and 1hour 15 minutes from Kelowna. The fence has begun to deteriorate and in order to improve the overall safety and aesthetic of the site, we would like to remove the fence, as well as brush around the main road to improve sightlines. The approximate length of the fence is 700m and is in various stages of disrepair. The average length of the fence beams are 4.5m. There are some metal spikes and wire used to hold the fence in place but can be easily removed. The brushing will be completed around the main road (1.5m from edge of road), as well as in between the fence and the road to improve sightlines. All trees/shrubs less than 6" DBH (Diameter at Breast Height) are to be removed from these areas and disposed of. All disposal materials are to be brought to the Campbell Mountain Landfill Site in Penticton. Materials must meet the standards & regulations of that facility. All fence beams & wood waste must be no longer than 8 feet in length, and all metal must be removed and disposed of separately.
