Renovation of a mixed-use development in Storrs Mansfield, Connecticut. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility; and laboratory facility.
A. The scope of work to be performed includes, but is not limited to, the proper removal, handling, and disposal of ACM proposed to be by the renovation and/or demolition activities during the Project at the Site. Refer to Table 13281 at the end of this Section for base bid asbestos-containing materials scheduled to be removed. B. Window systems with caulk and glazing along with louvers with caulk are presumed to contain PCBs at concentrations =50 parts per million (ppm). Refer to Section 13284 for PCB-Contaminated Building Materials Abatement. Table 13281 below indicates which items must be removed/disposed as mixed asbestos / EPA Regulated PCB Waste. The following information supplements that provided during the Request for Statement of Qualifications phase: The 8,000 gross square foot (GSF) renovation will include laboratory spaces for extracting and preparing samplesfor analysis, drying and sieving soils, instrumentation room, chemical storage, grinding, storage for soil/compost educational items, airgas tank storage, water treatmentsystem, computer area, offices, and office support areas. The project schedule/duration information was provided in the Request for Statement of Qualifications and has changed as follows: Anticipated Contract Issuance/Notice to Proceed: April 2025. Construction is planned to start: May 2025 Provide a copy of a Bid Bond made out in the penalsum of ten percent (10%) of the Total Bid Amount. In lieu of a Bid Bond, a Certified Check in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the Total Bid Amount is acceptable. A Bid Bond is only required for any Total Bid Amount over $50,000.00. A Total Bid Amount of $50,000.00 or less does not require a Bid Bond. The Set-Aside Requirement for this Project is that (1) not less than thirty percent (30%) of the Total Contract Price be awarded to subcontractors who are certified by the Connecticut Department of Administrative Services as "Small Business Enterprises" ("SBEs") and (2) not less than ten percent (10%) of the Total Contract Price be awarded to subcontractors who are certified by the Connecticut Department of Administrative Services as "Minority Business Enterprises" ("MBEs") (the 10% set aside for MBEs may be included in the 30% set aside for SBEs). If the Contractor is an S/MBE, then any self-performed work may be included in the Set-Aside Requirement. Liquidated Damages of Five Hundred Dollars ($500) per calendar day shall be assessed if the Contractor fails to achieve Substantial Completion or causes delay to the Substantial Completion of any portion of the work within the Contract Time. The University reserves the right to modify the contract or waive any informality as it deems to be in the best interest of the University. By submitting a Proposal, your Company accepts the contract and any modifications that the University deems necessary to it without exception. Proposers will be notified of any modifications to the contract made by the University.
