Renovation of a water / sewer project in Summerland, British Columbia. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
The District of Summerland is in the process of retrofitting an old filter building at the Wastewater Treatment Plant so that it may be used for storing materials and equipment. The District requires a Contractor to complete upgrades that will allow for improved access into the building by forklift. The west door opening currently consists of a double man door. The Contractor will remove the existing doors and enlarge the door opening by removing one row of concrete blocks from above the existing opening. The Contractor will reinforce the door opening by installing dual angle supports (lintels) above the door opening (minimum 8" bearing on both sides) and filling the block cores on the sides of the opening below the angle bearing with concrete. The Contractor will install and attach a new roll-up door, with a motorized and non-motorized option provided. Note that there isn't adequate space to accommodate an overhead style garage door due to existing configuration of equipment overhead. Additionally, there is currently a trench inside the building that is covered with aluminium grates. The Contractor will complete all work required to replace the existing aluminium grates with steel plates, including installing teleposts, beams, and ledges to support the plates.
