The Farmington Regional Animal Shelter provides a safe haven for 5,000- 7,000 animals a year. We maintain a live release of greater than 80% with the goal of improving life-saving long term and achieving a live release rate of 90% greater. The mission of Farmington Animal Services is to improve the quality of life in the City of Farmington by providing comprehensive and compassionate services to the animals of the region through temporary care, safe shelter, and placement opportunities while maintaining the well-being of animals in the shelter. A major component of maintaining the well-being of the animals is their housing. After 10 years, and several thousands of animals, certain aspects of the animal housing at the shelter is starting to show wear and tear. To begin addressing these areas of concern this project would replace all dog kennels including flooring, walls, drains, and ceilings. New kennels would provide better soundproofing, more visual barriers and increase the overall comfort for the animals. The project is included in the City's 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of May 15, 2025, per owner, there is no further information or updates on this project since it is still with PRCA and they are still working out the funding and details. Since they are already half-way through the budget year, they may not see this project go out for RFQP for several months if not until FY2026. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
