This project is for the acquisition and development of approximately 31 acres along the Animas River located in the MRA. This project would create a downtown green space and plaza area similar to Millennium Park in Chicago or Olympic Park in Atlanta. The project could be a catalyst to a positive economic growth impact of downtown. Key elements could be a marketplace, plaza, green area and an amphitheater to drive events and traffic to downtown. The project is included in the City's 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of May 14, 2025, per owner, there is no further information or updates on this project since it is still with PRCA and they are still working out the funding and details. Since they are already half-way through the budget year, they may not see this project go out for RFQP for several months if not until FY2026. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
