Bedford County is soliciting bids to furnish/provide grading, paving, and drainage at the County Recreation Facility located on Bedford Avenue in Bedford, Virginia. PURPOSE: The purpose of this Invitation for Bids (IFB) is to solicit bids to furnish/provide grading, paving, and drainage at County Recreation Facility on Bedford Avenue. BACKGROUND: There is an existing small parking lot and off-street parking along Bedford Ave which is all requested to be paved. Also, an existing drain inlet at the far side will need to be replaced awhile reusing existing pipe running under Bedford Avenue. SPECIFICATIONS / SCOPE OF WORK: Paving Specifications: (Measures are approximate & should be verified by Bidder before bidding. Existing drive lanes and/or parking areas are expected to be paved. All roadside parking spots are expected to be a minimum of 18' deep, slight grading & expansion of the existing gravel area may be needed in few areas to achieve this.) Roadside Parking Area: o Approximately 700 Linear Feet o Minimum of 20 Feet Deep Small Parking Lot: o Approximately 80 X 40 Linear Feet with 30 Linear Feet Driveway from Bedford Ave. It is desired to square up this area and some additional base will be needed beyond existing to create the 80 X 40 Linear Feet asphalt area. (Dimensions do not include the concrete pad by the building.) Construction Specifications: o Base Preparation: Grading of existing gravel area as needed. Grading to ensure minimum parking depth on roadside parking areas. 6" of 21-A stone placed and compacted as needed o Asphalt Paving at a minimum of 2" of overlay o Re-installation of any existing parking spot stops. o Special Note: An inlet drain at the far end of the facility will need to be replaced before paving. Its location is shown on the attached GIS and VDOT drawings for the new drain are provided as part of this IFB.
