Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) is building a new indoor aquatic center at Northgate Park in North Portland. The project goals are: - Create a beautiful, durable, equitable, state- of-the-art aquatic center that is inclusive of all Portlanders. ? - Promote equity and reduce barriers to access to create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive facility for all. ? - Expand the types of aquatics programming PP&R can offer. ? - Balance high-performance sustainability aspirations with long-term operational success. ? - Employ the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) model to deliver an efficient facility that aligns scope, schedule, and budget. The project is included in the city's 2025-2027 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of August 20, 2025, while the pool was approved back in 2023, the aquatic center will take years to develop. The city estimates that site construction won’t start until late 2027 at the earliest and is set to wrap in 2029. A design team has been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
