The Kinross Correctional Facility is replacing the existing Fire Alarm system throughout the entire facility. The existing Potter System is no longer supported and replacement parts are no longer available. The new Fire Alarm system shall include a complete system meeting all current codes including, but not limited to: head end units, strobes, alarms, duct detectors, tamper switches on shut off valves, review and upgrades to the hood suppression systems, connection to AHUs over 2,000cfm, new cabling and conduit, trouble and alarms to report back to the Star Net II security system at central control, etc. The existing fire alarm system is to remain functioning until the new system is completely installed, tested and functioning properly. The removal of the existing system shall include all existing equipment, conduit, cabling and existing direct buried lines to be properly terminated and abandoned in place (all removed equipment to be salvaged and returned to DOC). There is a warehouse at a remote location (see attached aerial maps) that will also be included in the project requiring the design and installation of a fire alarm system (there is fiber connectivity between the Kinross Campus and the warehouse facility). The Professional Services Contractor (PSC) is to provide a proposal for Phase 500 Final Design and Phase 600/700 Construction Administration services to field investigate and document the existing system in its entirety (there is limited documentation of the existing system), including existing head end unit locations, all speaker/strobe locations, conduits and cabling, duct detectors, etc so that all equipment to be removed is depicted in the design documents. Develop plans/specifications to replace the entire fire alarm system (all new equipment to be depicted on the design documents), submission for plan review, pre-bid walkthrough and evaluation recommendation along with construction administration services. The project includes complete replacement of fire alarm systems for 10 buildings. All new addressable fire alarm systems, devices and wiring are required. Demolition of existing fire alarms shall include removal of existing panels, devices, conduit, and cable, and shall be completed after new systems are on line for 30 days.
