Bids are invited for the Avoca Borough Bennett Street Wall and Drainage Improvements Project. Contract documents, including drawings and technical specifications, are available at Penneastern Engineers, LLC. Bidders must be on file with Penneastern Engineers, LLC to be considered responsible. Bid security in an amount equal to 10% of the total bid must be submitted with each bid. The successful bidder must provide a payment bond for 100% of the contract amount, a performance bond for 100% of the contract amount within 15 days of the contract being awarded, and a two-year maintenance bond in the amount of 100% of the contract amount at the completion of the project. Prevailing minimum wage requirements apply. The Borough of Avoca reserves the right to reject any or all bids or waive informalities. Bids may be held for up to 120 days for review prior to awarding the contract. During this period, no bidder may withdraw their bid. Every request for such an interpretation shall be made in writing to the Owner. Any inquiry received seven or more days prior to the date fixed for opening bids will be given consideration. Provide maintenance & protection of traffic in accordance with PennDOT Pub. 213. Remove existing trees as shown on the drawings incidental to the contract. Demo and excavate as required for new retaining wall. Construct new retaining wall and backfill as per the contract documents. Mount guide rail to the new concrete retaining wall as per the contract documents. Install the new storm sewer as the contract documents. All trench backfill shall be 2A course aggregate. Provide trench restoration as per the plans and as directed. Provide pavement restoration where required and as directed. Provide shoring and protection of existing walls, fences, garages, sheds, building, driveways etc. during construction incidental to the contract. Provide protection of existing utilities including any necessary shoring of utilities and holding of utility poles incidental to the contract. Pave notches, brooming, tacking, sawcutting pavement edges, sealing pavement joints and edges, adjustment of gas and water valves are incidental to the contract.
