The project consists of constructing the 2026 Street Improvements, which includes all labor, materials, and equipment necessary for scarification, HMA resurfacing, manhole adjustments, seeding, and miscellaneous associated work including cleanup. Bidders must submit sealed proposals on official bidding blanks furnished by the City. Each proposal must be accompanied by bid security in the form of a certified or cashier's check, certified share draft, or bid bond in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the bid, made payable to the City of Walford, Iowa. The successful bidder is required to furnish a bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, guaranteeing faithful performance of the contract, prompt payment for all materials and labor, protection and indemnification of the City from claims and damages caused by the contractor's operations, and the work against faulty workmanship and materials for four years after completion and acceptance. Contractors and subcontractors are required to obtain tax exemption certificates specific to this project. Work must commence within ten days after the Notice to Proceed and be completed by October 30, 2026. Liquidated damages of $500 per calendar day will be assessed for work incomplete after this date, with allowances for extensions except for inclement weather. All bidders must submit a fully completed Bidder Status Form as an essential attachment to the proposal. The City of Walford reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to enter into such contract(s) as deemed in its best interest.
