The project involves the removal of existing traffic striping and pavement markings and painting of proposed traffic striping and pavement markings according to plan documents along South Gilbert Street from Highway 6 to McCollister Boulevard, Sunset Street from Highway 1 to Benton Street, and Mormon Trek Boulevard southeast of the Highway 1 intersection. All work must be done in strict compliance with the Project Manual prepared by the City of Iowa City's Public Works - Engineering Division and on file for public examination. Bidders must complete proposals on forms furnished by the City and submit them in a sealed envelope. A separate sealed envelope must also be submitted containing a completed Bidder Status Form and a bid security executed by a corporation authorized to contract as a surety in the State of Iowa, in the sum of 10% of the bid. The successful bidder must enter into a contract within ten calendar days of the City Council's award and post bond satisfactory to the City ensuring the faithful performance of the contract and maintenance of the project. A Performance, Payment, and Maintenance Bond in the amount of 100% of the contract price is required, guaranteeing prompt payment, protection of the City from claims and damages, and maintenance of the improvement for one year after completion and acceptance. All bid items must be completed by the specified substantial completion date, without exception. The City reserves the right to reject any proposals or waive technicalities and irregularities. Preference must be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa, and to Iowa domestic labor, as required by law. Minority contractors and subcontractors are encouraged. Bidders must list intended subcontractors, their type of work, and approximate amounts on the Proposal. The contractor awarded the contract must provide a list of subcontractors on the Contract, with quantities, unit prices, and dollar amounts.
