Wethersfield Cove Parking Lot Entrance Improvements The Town of Wethersfield, after review of all factors, including the terms and conditions, qualifications and price, reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids, or any part thereof, or waive defects in the same, or accept any proposal or combination of proposals deemed to be in the best interest of the Town. The intent of this bid solicitation is for the Town of Wethersfield to retain a contractor to complete improvements at the entrance of the parking lot for Wethersfield Cove located at the north end of Main Street, which includes removing the concrete barriers and extending the existing grass island, relocating the attendant's shed to the new island to facilitate driver interactions, removal and replacement of existing bituminous concrete pavement, and installation of reclaimed granite curbing. Other improvements include the planting of three new trees, construction of a brownstone paver pad for the shed, installation of a mounted decorative streetlight fixture and video camera system on an existing utility pole and associated electric conduit. A bid bond or certified check in the amount of 5% of bid is required to be submitted with the Bid. Bid Security will be returned to all except the successful bidder upon award. The successful bidder shall submit acceptable performance and labor, and material bonds in accordance with these General Provisions, each in an amount equal to 100% of amount bid that is issued by a surety company authorized to do business in the State of Connecticut, indemnifying the Town of Wethersfield against any loss or expense in repairing, remedying or correcting the work performed by the licensee if the same is defective or not in accordance with the ordinance of the Town of Wethersfield. If necessary, these bonds may be renewed annually and will be released upon expiration of the guarantee period, which is one (1) year after the date of written acceptance of work For this project, a sum of FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500.00) is agreed to by all Bidders as liquidated damages, and shall be paid by the Contractor to the Town for each and every calendar day in which this Contract is not completed after the period of time stipulated herein for such completion, and such costs shall be fixed with regard to this provision. The Contractor also agrees to pay these liquidated damages for each and every calendar day extending beyond TEN (10) CONSECUTIVE CALENDAR DAYS the site is vacated without work occurring and without authorization from the Town. Questions Relating to Bid Solicitation Any request from prospective bidders for interpretation of meaning of contract drawings, specifications or other contract documents must be made in writing to the Town of Wethersfield Finance Department via email at purchasing@wethersfieldct.gov. Unless affected by weather as approved by the Town Engineer, the length of time to complete work associated with this project will be THIRTY-FIVE (35) CALENDAR DAYS between TUESDAY MAY 27, 2025 and TUSEDAY JULY 1, 2025 to limit impacts to public use of the park during the holiday weekends and busy summer season.
