Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Prince Rupert, British Columbia. Conceptual plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.
The bridge is an approximately 130 meters long, timber bent bridge with an asphalt wearing surface and concrete abutments. There are two lanes of traffic with a single pedestrian walkway which has a timber deck. Beneath the asphalt wearing surface, is laminated timber decking consisting of 75x265mm members, tensioned with Dwidag threadrods. The threadrods are used to hold the decking together tightly and help the decking act as one solid member. There are twenty (20) bents in total, with five (5) 300x300mm creosote treated timber piles and75x265mm cross bracing. The bridge has no posted load limit. TIMELINE: Request for Proposals for design engineering services has closed. Award is pending. Further update in late 2025, upon aopprovals.
