TIMELINE: The City of Prince Rupert is seeking proposals from qualified proponents in response to this request for proposals for the provision of Services to be carried out within the required schedule set out herein for the Prince Rupert Water Masterplan. The City is presently engaged in the replacement of 26 km of outdated watermain infrastructure and is investigating options for water treatment. To direct future investments and guarantee that they are coordinated and prioritized effectively, the City necessitates a detailed roadmap. This roadmap will be especially crucial as water treatment initiatives begin to materialize. A Water Master Plan will delineate a systematic approach to achieve both current and future water quality objectives. A primary emphasis of the plan will be the implementation of water treatment, commencing with an update to the 2021 pilot testing recommendations. Furthermore, the plan will evaluate the feasibility of a provisional disinfection facility on Kaien Island to alleviate operational pressure while long-term treatment solutions are developed and executed. Additionally, the relationship between treatment capacity and potable water storage will be analyzed, with recommendations made for essential upgrades. The plan will also tackle the renewal and size correction of the distribution infrastructure to ensure it aligns with the City's long-term requirements. All these elements will be consolidated into a unified strategy, with overarching recommendations aimed at optimizing system performance, bolstering resilience, and ensuring long-term sustainability in the face of future challenges.
