The City of Golden is seeking proposals for independent cost estimator services associated with Reaches 1 and 4 of the Lena Gulch Channel Improvement Project. Reach 1 extends from just south of the southern access to the Martin Marietta quarry to just south of the southern access to Heritage Square, covering approximately 2,600 linear feet of channel and including two culverts under the Martin Marietta quarry accesses. Reach 4 extends from just upstream of Zeta Street to approximately Violet Street. All culverts within these two reaches are known to be undersized for the 100-year event. The project is intended to improve the condition of the Lena Gulch channel, solve issues with undersized and aging infrastructure, mitigate flood impacts to US Highway 40 (Colfax), and remove the adjacent and downstream communities from the floodplain.
