The building, commonly referred to as "the Boys' Dorm", is located at 838 White Feather Street in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin. The building is of particular historic significance, in that it was utilized to house boys during the tragic boarding school era. Today it is utilized for programming, events, projects, meetings and office space. The two- story structure was renovated several years ago. During the renovation project, the lead-based paint on the approximately 4,800 square feet of siding affixed to the exterior of the building was covered over with non-hazardous paint. The non- hazardous layer of paint and underlying layer(s) of paint containing toxic metals are deteriorating, so the building is now in need of repainting, giving rise to concerns that scraping the building in preparation for repainting will cause hazardous release of lead and/or other toxic metals, and the decision to remove the lead-based paint via soda blasting or ice blasting. The successful bidder shall also prep and paint the building after completion of the lead-based paint removal. Paint Codes shall be provided by the Tribe.
